EFFECTIVE DATE: March 12, 2021... Purpose: This Direction describes policies and procedures for implementing a National Emphasis Program (NEP) to ensure that employees in high-hazard industries or work tasks are protected from the hazard of contracting SARS-CoV-2... Executive Summary: On January 21, 2021, by executive order, President Biden directed the Secretary of Labor, acting through the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, to launch a national program to focus OSHA enforcement efforts related to COVID-19 on violations that put the largest number of workers at serious risk or are contrary to anti-retaliation principles.... Significant Changes: Not applicable. This is a new enforcement program.

Notes

The federal inspection program in force on the first day of 2021 Q3; replaced July 7, 2021 by DIR 2021-03 (Ex. 088), which retargeted toward unvaccinated and non-healthcare workplaces.
