Operative words

The provisions of the State Sanitary Code shall have the force and effect of law. Such code shall be observed throughout the State and shall be enforced by each local board of health, the local police authorities and other enforcement agencies.

Penalty

N.J.S.A. 26:1A-10: $50 to $1,000 for each violation, each a separate offense (Ex. DUT-NJ-005)

What it required

Every provision of the State Sanitary Code (N.J.A.C. Title 8, including chapters 24 and 57) binds every person in the State as law and is enforced by local boards of health and the police; local boards may adopt more restrictive rules.
