Operative words

'1. (1) Beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, each person responsible for a place of business that is not listed in Schedule 2 shall ensure that the place of business is closed.' 'essential business' means a business listed in Schedule 2. Recital: 'the supply chain with respect to essential goods, services and resources' must be maintained.

Enforcement

EMCPA s. 7.0.11 (fines up to $100,000 and one year imprisonment for individuals; $10,000,000 for corporations)

Notes

Ontario is the largest foreign source of automotive parts for Michigan, Ohio and Indiana assembly; the closure idled the parts plants for the period the Detroit Three and Michigan's EO 2020-21 idled assembly, and the Provincewide Shutdown and stay-at-home orders of December 2020-June 2021 re-limited them.
