The U.S. and Maine CDC recommends everyone wear masks when inside in public regardless of vaccination status when there is substantial or high community transmission of COVID-19 in your county.... The City of Portland first alerted the public to the fact that Cumberland County reached substantial community transmission of COVID-19 on August 5, 2021. As of August 23, Cumberland County is now listed as moderate.
