Operative words
Last year, Valley Metro's Boards of Directors declared that facial coverings were to be required on all Valley Metro transit services beginning on July 1st, 2020. Despite the vaccinations and the governor's recent relaxation of COVID-19 protective measures Valley Metro is still required to comply with the guidelines laid out by federal authorities including the CDC and the U.S. Department of Transportation.... if you're looking to ride Valley Metro, facial coverings are still mandatory.
Enforcement
Education-first (riders without a covering not removed, per Ex. MET-PHX-029 and the Dec. 2020 post)
Notes
Valley Metro's Dec. 2020 post states 'Since the beginning of July, Valley Metro has required all riders to wear them on board or when waiting to board a vehicle.' Fixes the start date of the requirement recorded in Ex. MET-PHX-029.
Retrieval notePrimary as to the agency's own statement of its board's rule.
