2020: Testing suspended in March 2020 and the examination's relaunch suspended on May 26, 2020 for 12 to 18 months (organizer announcement page in the retrieval queue). 2021: Discontinued permanently, announced January 26, 2021; peer-reviewed sources describe 'the decision to permanently suspend the USMLE Step 2 Clinical Skills exam' (J Surg Res 2021;265:60-63).
