Operative words
All 50 states closed schools to in-person instruction at some point during the 2019-2020 academic year. In forty-eight states, officials closed schools to in-person instruction for the remainder of the academic year after the coronavirus outbreak. Officials in Montana and Wyoming closed schools to in-person instruction but later allowed them to reopen.
