2020: All performances suspended March 12, 2020: 'Under the direction of Governor Andrew Cuomo, Broadway shows in New York City will suspend all performances immediately' (Broadway League, March 12, 2020, Ex. SEC-21-GM-027), following Executive Order 202.1's cancellation of gatherings of 500 or more (Ex. NY-009); the suspension was extended repeatedly and on October 9, 2020 through May 30, 2021 (Ex. SEC-21-GM-028). 2021: Theatres excluded from the May 19, 2021 reopening; reopening from September 14, 2021 (a single show June 26, 2021 to a fully vaccinated audience) under the City's Key to NYC vaccination-proof orders (Emergency Executive Orders 225, 228, 239, 250; Exs. MET-NYC-017, -018, -019, -021) with proof of vaccination required of all attendees aged twelve and over and masks required (Wikipedia). Usual dates: Year-round; 2018-19 season attendance 14.77 million, about 20 percent of tickets sold to international visitors (Wikipedia, 'Broadway theatre'). Scale: 31 productions running on March 12, 2020, including 8 new shows in previews (Broadway League, October 9, 2020, Ex. SEC-21-GM-028); 14.77 million attendance in 2018-19 (Wikipedia).
