2020: 'Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, all in-person NYRR events and programs are canceled through August 15' (June 16, 2020 capture); the marathon itself cancelled June 24, 2020 and replaced by a virtual race with more than 15,000 participants (Wikipedia, secondary). 2021: Held Nov. 7, 2021 with the field 'limited to 33,000 due to coronavirus pandemic precautions' (Wikipedia, secondary); post-period, planned during 2021 Q3 under Key to NYC (Ex. MET-NYC-017). Usual dates: Nov. 1, 2020 planned; annual, first Sunday of November. Scale: 53,635 finishers in 2019; NYRR 'serves 670,000 runners annually' (organizer's page, June 2020 capture).
