What it required
Every employer, and every owner of a place of employment, place of public assembly or public building, must render it 'reasonably safe' and do 'everything reasonably necessary to protect the life, health and safety' of employees and lawful visitors; 'safe' and 'safety' by definition 'include conditions and methods of sanitation and hygiene reasonably necessary for the protection of the life, health and safety of the employees and others who are not trespassers' (§ 25-1-1(c)(3)).
Retrieval noteThe Legislature's code site and the Justia and FindLaw mirrors refused automated fetching (HTTP 403); the onecle mirror (page last modified May 3, 2021) reproduces the section with its history line, and the text matches the search-engine extracts of the Justia and FindLaw pages word for word. The section's definition of safety as including 'sanitation and hygiene' is the State-law footing of every sanitation, distancing and screening measure an employer took in 2020-2021.
