Operative words

The Department of Labor & Industries (L&I) requires employers to provide a safe and healthy workplace and to implement the Governor's proclamation to ensure coronavirus prevention. Employers must ensure social distancing for employees and customers; frequent and adequate employee handwashing; and that sick employees stay home.

Penalty

Enforced through WAC 296-800-14035, 296-800-11045 and 296-800-140 under RCW 49.17.180

What it required

States L&I's mandatory baseline for every workplace ('Employers must ensure...'; 'Routine and Frequent Cleaning is Required'; 'Frequent and Adequate Handwashing is Required'; 'Employee Education is Required') alongside 'Prevention Ideas' labelled as such; incorporated by the Safe Start plan's requirement that employers comply with L&I's 'interpretive guidance, regulations, and rules' (Ex. WA-034) and by Proclamations 20-25.6 and 20-25.14.

Retrieval note

The document distinguishes requirements ('must', 'is Required') from 'Prevention Ideas'; the record pleads the former as requirements and the latter as recommendations. Filename carries the capture date because the publication bears only a month code.
