Operative words

Section 782.01 Residential Eviction Regulation. (a) No landlord may take action to evict, remove, or dispossess a household except for good cause. A landlord desiring to evict may request a good cause exemption from the Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations upon proof of any of the following: (1) Conduct that presents an imminent threat to the health or safety of other residents... (2) Other serious breach of the lease terms or compelling basis... including... failure to pay amounts due (so long as such failure to pay is not due to an inability to pay arising from a COVID-19 related hardship).... (c)... (1) Any person who pursues the eviction or dispossession of an individual or a household, without good cause as found by a court of competent jurisdiction, shall be subject to a fine of up to $1,000; (2)... a household that includes one or more children under the age of 13... a fine of up to $2,500... Section 782.02 Sunset. This Chapter 782 shall expire upon termination of the City's Disaster Emergency Declaration or by City Council legislative termination, whichever is sooner.

Enforcement

Fines of $1,000 and $2,500; enforcement by City departments or the Commission on Human Relations as designated by the Mayor.
